Even Google Doesn’t Know What PR Really Is
I was doing some research on Public Relations - An area that everyone owning a business whether it is an online or offline one, should be well versed in. In Googles attempt to try to deliver me exactly what I wanted, they included related words in my search. Of course before there was ever Pagerank, the common term used for Public Relations was “PR”.
So Google widened my search to include “PR” and quickly that became Pagerank, not Public Relations. What I was left with where a bunch of completely irrelevant results. I can understand if I used the abbreviation myself in my search as I can’t expect my relevancy to be the same as someone who is actually searching for Pagerank (I have always said relevancy is completely in the eye of the beholder and an algo can only guess at what is truly relevant). Between the indexing problems which have just gotten worse with the Big Daddy update and Google trying to guess what you are thinking, relevancy seems to actually be getting worse for specific searches.
